6. Thousand Trails Harbor View, Colonial Beach, VA

July 31-Aug. 2 (Wed-Fri)

On Wednesday, we headed to our second Thousand Trails campground, this time in Colonial Beach, VA. This was much nicer than the Thousand Trails campground in Yemassee, SC. It had lots of amenities, including putt-putt golf, tether ball, a basketball/pickle ball court, a volleyball net, a playground, a huge pool, etc.

On our way there, we stopped at the Virginia Welcome Center and Ofie loaded up on brochures and maps. A bird dive-bombed her several times as she was taking the LOVE photo below.

On Thursday, we headed to the Colonial Beach Municipal Pier. It was scorching hot!

We also had some Panang curry at Thai Orchid for lunch. It was yummy!

On Friday, we visited George Washington's Birthplace National Monument. Again, it was extremely hot. So Ofie walked the grounds by herself since they didn't allow pets. Steve and Emme waited patiently in the truck. While watching a short video on George Washington's life, Ofie found this interesting online article dispelling the myth of his wooden teeth: https://www.health.mil/News/Articles/2022/02/03/Dentally-Unready-Gen-George-Washingtons-Lifetime-of-Dental-Misery?page=2#youMayAlso

Sadly, we did not get to ride the trolley, since it only runs on weekends. We had been looking forward to picking up dinner from Catfish Kelly's at nearby King George only to find out it sold mostly uncooked seafood 🦞🐟 We found out there is a Catfish Kelly's in Fredericksburg, 40 minutes away. We opted to eat in instead.

We took advantage of the laundry facilities and pool. It was a nice evening.
