9. Lake Compounce Campground, Bristol, CT

We arrived at the Lake Compounce Campground around 4 pm. The campground is next to the Lake Compounce Amusement & Water Park, the US's oldest continuously operating amusement park. It has been in operation since 1846! On Thursday, we drove about half an hour away to Wadsworth Falls State Park.

Afterwards we stopped briefly at the Bristol Bazaar, which consisted of kiosks displaying handmade crafts.
Near the entrance to Lake Compounce, we noticed this tall building. Upon further research, we found out this is the Otis Elevator Test Tower, a 38-story (383 ft) windowless skyscraper.
