6. Thousand Trails Natchez Trace, Hohenwald, TN
4/30-5/9 (Wed-Fri)
We stopped at Jackson Falls on the way to our next stop. It was a pretty spot.

We trusted the Garmin GPS to take us to our campground but instead it took us to a dead end. The people that live there said this happens all the time. Steve had to back the RV up for about ¼ mile to a side road where he was able to turn us around.

Another quick stop by the side of the road.
After a few days of rain, we finally got out of the camper on Sunday and visited nearby Lawrenceburg.

We also stopped at the David Crockett State Park, not to be confused with the David Crockett State Birthplace State Park (Limestone, TN) which their website pointed out several times.

Emme enjoyed a little swim.
Next stop was the Crockett Museum & Birds Aviaries. The tiny museum/gift shop were surprisingly open on a Sunday.

On Tuesday (May 6), we headed to the Stillhouse Hollow Falls. The landscape was lush and green.

Notice Steve standing behind the falls on the bottom center photo and his view from behind the falls on the bottom right photo.
On Wednesday, we went to Columbia (about an hour away), where we did some shopping and had dinner at the Catfish Campus. The catfish was very good (almost as good as my Cracker Barrel favorite) and the hushpuppies, dipped in pickled green tomatoes juice were yummy!

On Thursday, we ventured into Alabama (about 30 minutes away). Drove through Muscle Shoals and Florence (a bigger town, as it had a Sam's Club).

On Friday, we went to Yoder's Homestead Market in Summertown per our new friends Dennis and Susan's recommendation. Their deli sandwiches were made with homemade bread. They were excellent.

The homemade placemats were unique.
Afterwards, we stopped at a monument of Meriwether Lewis and the Grinder House, where Lewis died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

We ended the day playing bingo at the Recreation Hall with Dennis and Susan. It was so much fun hanging out with them. And ... they are from Sorrento! We're practically neighbors! What a small world.

We left Natchez Trace on Saturday. Dennis and Susan brought us chocolate pies from Yoder's (delish) and a sweet bouquet of wildflowers and hung out with us at the Recreation Hall, while we waited for a package that should have been delivered days ago.
I love this video of Emme. She loves chasing sticks.
